[Halld-offline] HDEVIO beta testing

Hello David,

Bravo, it is working for me! No crashes after running on hundreds of files
since I implemented your fix, including old ones that I had marked as bad.
Of course I haven't looked at the results yet... but all evidence so far
indicates that the fix is effective for the problems I was seeing.
