Hello Curtis,
Video Systems Used: e.g. Polycom Unit, Computer, Tablet, Phone, etc...
1. Polycom H.323 set-top unit
2. Chromebook with google video chat
Was it easy to connect?
1. it worked, but more tedious. ESnet was instantaneous
2. it didn't work. I chatted with the bluejeans corp. helpdesk, and
they admitted that the google chat feature stopped working several weeks
back, and they have no current solution for it.
Did you have a device that did not allow you to connect? If so, what was it
and what was the operating system?
1. Polycom firmware
2. google chrome / video chat / hangouts
How was the audio quality relative to ESNET?
1. was ok, seemed worse than ESnet. ESnet was almost always great, much
better than phone audio quality. This seemed more or less equivalent to
telephone. All of the usual loopback problems kept happening, but that
seems to be a common feature of desktop clients.
How was the video quality relative to ESNET?
1. considerably worse. ESnet was always great for people with Polycom
hardware, and often great for desktop video. This video was quite poor
(coarse-pixelled slow-updating) and less flexible than ESnet, where one
could switch screen layouts easily with the remote.
Were you able to participate in the desktop sharing that we tried?
1. no, it said that the screen resolution was insufficient and would not
show the slides
2. no, the bluejeans client would not load in chrome, meeting screen was
blank. I called bluejeans support, and they confirmed that the client only
works on some linux platforms.
If yes, was it useful?
1. N/A
2. N/A
If no, please indicate the device and OS you were using.
1. Polycom H.323
2. Ubuntu 12.04.4 on ARM processor
