On the python 3 issue at JLab. Upshot seems to be that you should not 
use /apps/python/PRO/bin or /apps/python/bin in your path unless you 
want to use python 3...

One might assume that would be the case.  However, its usually the
case that the program name for python version 3, is python3.  This
leaves python as a python version 2 binary.  Thus, /apps/bin/python
points to the latest version of python2 on teh system and python3
pointing to the PRO version of python 3.  Hope this helps.

Also, note that 'use python/2.7.12' will also put python and it
associated applications and libraries into your path ahead of what is
currently there.
