A web page has been developed to track the status of files on tape that
are at IBM for recovery. It is at
https://scicomptest.jlab.org/scicomp/tapeFile
<https://scicomptest.jlab.org/scicomp/tapeFile>
This will change over time as we add and remove tapes from the recovery
queue.
IBM is dedicating additional hardware to tape recovery now that they
have an effective process. This will increase the recovery rate, but it
will take some time. We continue to audit tapes, especially those from
the Oct/Nov/Dec 2020 time window that match problematic drive serial
numbers.
As a precaution, we continue to send regular drive diagnostics to IBM to
monitor performance of the tape drives and remove any that show early
signs of errors. This will continue through the summer as we track
humidity and test coupons.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
