Ah, ok. I was looking at a different wiki page. The <a href="http://www.jlab.org/Hall-D/software/wiki/index.php/Getting_started_with_GlueX_Software">HOWTO get started with
Hall-D Software</a> implied mcsmear was for tracking chambers. <a href="http://www.jlab.org/Hall-D/software/wiki/index.php/Quick_Start_Guide_to_building_GlueX_Software">HOWTO get started
quickly with Hall-D Software</a> is the one I should have followed.<br>

Hi Blake,<br>
<br>
Make sure you are using a file that was produced by mcsmear. It is
now required for the FCAL, otherwise the reconstruction will not see
any hits.<br>

I got the speed boost so that seems to work for me, but I'm not seeing
any photons from the FCAL. I thought it was my reconstruction code, but
I looked at the DPhotons and none are less than 10.5 degrees. I'll keep
checking to see if it's my code.<br>

Hi Blake,<br>
<br>
I've just committed a change to HDParSim that lets it provide
DTrackTimeBased Objects as well. On my laptop processing b1 pi events
goes about 40 times faster than without it. You will need to add
-PDEFTAG:DTrackTimeBased=HDParSim to the command line to get the
effect. Have a look and let me know if you run into any trouble.<br>

Have a nice weekend!<br>

Hi All, <br>
<br>
Thanks Mihajlo. You are correct. The DPhoton objects now look for
DTrackTimeBased objects (see attached callgraph) which is activating
full tracking. This needs to be corrected for HDParSim so that it
generates DTrackTimeBased objects in addition to DPhoton objects using
the resolution tables. I'll take care of this and will send another
e-mail once it is complete. I may not be able to get it completed today
though. <br>

Hi Blake, <br>
<br>
There was some semi-recent reorganization of the tracking code that <br>
could be causing this. Let me have a look and I'll let you know what I
find. <br>

<blockquote type="cite">Hi David (or whoever would know),

<br>
I upgraded my Hall-D software to the February release, did a "make <br>
pristine" and remade all the software and my analysis code. But now my <br>
analysis runs about 80 times slower. I don't want to use all the <br>
tracking, just HDParSim to handle the DParticles but this doesn't seem <br>
to be the case anymore. Especially since I seem to be getting a lot of <br>
errors/output relating to tracking routines I was hoping to avoid <br>
using. I see things like: <br>
<br>
DReferenceTrajectory.cc:368 Could not find closest swim step! <br>
91.0 events processed (101.0 events red) 6.0Hz (avg.: 8.7Hz) <br>
108.0 events processed (115.0 events read) 18.0Hz (avg.: 9.0Hz) <br>
122.0 events processed (132.0 events read) 12.0Hz (avg.: 9.0Hz) <br>
DTrackCandidate_factory_CDC.cc:263 Too many hits in CDC! Track finding <br>
in CDC bypassed for event 134 <br>
<br>
Why would it be doing track finding when I specified the HDParSim <br>
plugin? Ala: <br>
<br>
/home/s4/leverin/gluex/svn/bin/Linux_CentOS4-athlon-gcc3.4.4/fcalTree4 <br>
--plugin=hdparsim -PDEFTAG:DParticle=HDParSim --plugin=mcthrown_hists <br>
-PTHREAD_TIMEOUT=60 -PPRINT_PLUGIN_PATHS=1 <br>
/home/fs1/leverin/etapi0flat/hdgeant_000/hdgeant_000.hddm <br>
<br>
Any thoughts? <br>
<br>
Cheers, <br>
