Hi All,<br>
<br>
I just wanted to let everyone know about a change I just
committed to the Hall-D repository this morning. The change is to
the build system to disable the compilation of the SIMD-ized code
when compiling on 32-bit Linux systems. This problem was first
pointed to by Beni who noticed seg. faulting on his machine with a
recent version of the code. There is some evidence that this may be
limited to the compiler version (gcc 4.1.2). Here is a list of OSes
which were tested:<br>
<br>
failed RHEL5.4 32-bit gcc 4.1.2<br>
failed Fedora 8 32-bit gcc 4.1.2<br>
OK CentOS 5.3 64-bit 4.1.2<br>
OK OS X 10.5 32-bit 4.0.1<br>
OK OS X 10.6 64-bit 4.2.1<br>
<br>
Simon has been able to recreate the problem with a small test
program, but the solution is not apparent.<br>
<br>
The overall effect here is that folks running on a 32-bit Linux
system will not be able to use the SIMD-ized version of the Kalman
Filter track fitter. The ALT1 and non-SIMD-ized Kalman filter
fitters will still be available.<br>
<br>
If anyone runs into problems on different platforms that seem
related (in particular, messages about ld.so not being where
expected) please let us know.<br>
<br>
Regards,<br>
-David<br>
