<div dir="ltr">Kei and all,<div><br></div><div>The RUNG card sets the run number in HDGeant for any case where the events originate inside geant, eg. photon beam simulations, or particle gun.  It does not overwrite the run number, however, in the case where geant gets its event from an external generator, eg. bggen or genr8.  This is the most logical and consistent behavior, that the original generator of the hddm event is the one who sets the event header info: run number, event number, event type, etc., and those who modify the event later on can extend the record id info but should not overwrite it.</div>

Perhaps setting the run number within hdgeant is not<br>

not saved in the output anyway, we should deprecate<br>

For genr8, the run number can be specified with the option<br>
-r (default 9000), and this seems to be propagated through<br>
to the end and I see the RunNumber variable in the final<br>
analysis tree is set correctly.<br>

For bggen events, setting the variable RUNNO seems to<br>
work, although this is not explicitly mentioned in the<br>
sample run.ffr card. The default is set to 2 as was<br>
noted yesterday. I've changed the sample run.ffr so<br>
that people can take note of this option.<br>
