Folks,

I am meeting with Thomas, Richard, Sean, and possibly Peter at
9:30 am EST tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss preparations for the
review, concerning simulation only. Since the last review, running
has been mainly on the OSG. Also there has been an enormous effort
to validate and improve the HDGeant4 simulation. If you are
interested in contributing, please join us on BlueJeans at the
software meeting number, 968592007.

Folks,

At the November 4th SciComp meeting Graham Heyes showed slides
describing/announcing a Computing Review, scheduled for December
16 and 17. Hall D is one of the subjects of the review. I've
already written to some of you about this. This is part of a
series of computing and software reviews that we have had in
years
past, going back to 12 GeV project days.

I've posted the canonical
review wiki page to coordinate communication for this
review. At the bottom of the page you will find a link to a Google
Drive directory where I have started to collect documents
related to the review. Graham's slides, a previous email message
from me to the "some of you" mentioned above, and an outline of
what I think we should present, at least in the written
material, are there now. The outline is also attached to this
message as a PDF.

The outline is incomplete and needs input from others. Feel
free to send me your thoughts. (At present, links are to a
read-only document; stay tuned for instructions on how to edit,
TBD. So send email for now.)

Finally, I hope to schedule a meeting this week to get the ball
rolling. More on that to come. My thinking is to not call a
general software-like meeting, but direct invitations to those
directly involved. This approach runs the risk of missing some
people interested in this activity. So please let me know if you
are such a person or resemble such a person so that you get all
of the information.
