[Halld-online] computers for online development

Hi,

In this fiscal year we may need to procure some computers and switches 
for online. In order
to better understand  what our needs are,  I would like to ask for your 
input.
We may not be able to satisfy everyones requests because of a number of 
constraints.
If you plan to do some development work for Hall D online tasks within 
next year,
please let me know what (and when) your near term needs are going to be, 
such as :

o Computers - servers or desktop preference. For what kind of purpose 
you need these resources or some
     specs.  What administration level you would like to have.
o Disk space - how much, what R/W speed you need, your preferred 
interface, how much control
       for your work you need over the server providing you the disk space.
o VME controllers - how many Intel/Linux VME controllers you need within 
the next year for your work.
o Network - if you need 1Gb or better switches we need to know about it 
too .

The more details you provide, the better. Please, do not assume that I 
already know about what resources
you need (even if I actually do since you talked about multiple times).
Even if you are planning to do some work that needs some of these 
resources but not sure about
it, it still would be good to know in order to optimize the purchase 
request.
