[Halld-online] What is NI Single-Board RIO - National Instruments

Hi,

I think these are the general purpose FPGA-based digital I/O boards the
NI rep was talking about:

     http://www.ni.com/singleboard/whatis/

Yi says we have a Labview/FPGA license so we wouldn't need to purchase
software to program them. A paper I read from LANL said they were very
happy using Labview to program the FPGA compared to using VHDL or whatever.

I think the base version is about $1k, compared to a bunch more for the
CAEN V1495. The latter may have more functionality, not clear if we
need all of it. NI has four different versions of this board.

I imagine we could get a loaner, assuming Yi has time to do an evaluation.

Thoughts...?
