[Halld-online] Online meeting Jan 29, 2014

Hi,

The 12GeV Trigger meeting was started many years ago with the focus on how to solve trigger requirements for the new 12GeV experiment programs.(All halls) The weekly focus from a small group of EEs and DAQ scientists developed, and produced production hardware, custom firmware, and worked out nicely because the CODA folks were able to keep up with firmware iterations to maintain software libraries.

I am definitely not for more meetings, but I feel that the hall groups should continue regular online meetings, and the hardware/firmware issues of the DAQ/Trigger system will always need to be discussed. In the near term, especially since the halld DAQ/Trigger system will go through it's initial commissioning phase, it may make sense to highlight issues at the regular ONLine meeting. Once the DAQ/Trigger system is commissioned and stable, then it would merely be a brief status report at the ONLine meeting groups to highlight performance or prioritize critical issues.

I'm delighted to report that the list of topics at the 12GeV Trigger meeting getting smaller because we are very close to fully deploying the new production hardware/firmware, but we will continue to meet periodically to keep track of new requests from all the hall experiments and other groups at the lab.

Regards,
-Chris

I agree that one more Wednesday online meeting is probably a good idea.

We can discuss these and how to move forward at the regularly scheduled Online meeting on Wednesday next week. I have put up a wiki page with a preliminary agenda. If you have anything you'd like to report on or discuss please add it to the agenda or send it me and I'll add it.
