Minutes[edit]
Attendees: David L. (chair), Sergey F., Simon T., Beni Z., Bryan M., Sean D., Serguei P., Dave A.
Announcements[edit]
There will be a network interruption on Saturday June 27 for maintenance of a site router.
Communications between counting house and rest of site will be unavailable during this time
Communications beween devices within Hall-D and the counting house should work.
JInventory[edit]
A replacement custodian for Serguei has yet to be identified. David will serve as interim custodian once Serguei departs.
Sergeui will modify the website to list David's e-mail as contact info.
Power Outage[edit]
We skimmed Tom's slides and discussed the major points related to the ongoing power outage in Hall-D and the counting house.
The scheduled was updated (according to Tim's e-mail on June 16th) to have the major downtime start on June 18th rather than June 22nd.
Full power and A/C is expected to be turned on by COB Monday the 22nd.
We will wait a few days for the HVAC to bring the humidity back down in the hall before turing on crates and computers. This will likely be towards the end of the week.
David will be away from the lab next week so if computers in the counting house need to be turned back on before Monday June 29th, others will need to take care of it. (contact Sergey F. for help). David will turn on any remaining counting house computers when he returns on the 30th.
It is assumed that other devices in the hall will be powered on by the same people who took responsibility for powering them off.
Controls[edit]
No controls representative at the meeting
DAQ[edit]
Sergey has successfully tested the DAQ system up to 700MB/s from ROC to RAID disk.
Test used 500 MHz cosmic trigger, but with readout thresholds adjusted so as to read noise.
CODA group has implemented changes to multi-cast system that allow one to specify an interface. This is to address the issue where multiple interfaces are available sometimes a low-bandwidth one is chosen causing the system to run at lower speeds.
Development has stopped on CODA 3.03 and testing of CODA 3.04 is underway. CODA group will install 3.04 on Hall-D computers after power is restored.
Dave A. and Paul L. will install RHEL7 on gluon46 so that testing of a multicast issue can be done. This is the computer that still has issues with spontaneous reboots. There is a possibility that upgrading the OS will resolve the problem indicating that it is a configuration issue.
Beni has asked Cody to prepare a mode 8 only version of the new fADC125 firmware. Bryan reported that he has not been contacted yet by Cody to produce a driver for this. Beni was interested in doing a full crate test with this firmware so as to initiate the beta testing stage.
