it s bug in root and will never be fixed.<br>
However there is a trick found out by Mark Dalton.<br>
use the "bullshit" option (-bs) when starting the vnc server<br>
vncserver :XX -bs<br>
<br>
the option must be at the very end.<br>
that will do the trick.<br>

<div>If I start up a vnc session on any of the gluon machines
and then try to run root, it crashes the vnc session whenever
one of the TCanvas windows closes. Apparently this is a known
issue with the Xorg server, and a patch is available. This
makes root effectively unusable over vnc. A workaround is to
avoid vnc and use X11 forwarding. X11 forwarding is much more
sluggish, so that is a pain. I don't know when this might rise
to the level of an action item, but just so you and others
know about it. A formal report with the recommended fix is
linked below.</div>
