font-variation-settings: normal;">We would like to provide an update regarding the status of the DNP-JPS fall meeting in Maui. Most of you have heard about the wildfire that devastated the town of Lahaina, 2 miles away from the meeting hotel. We express our deepest sympathies to all those who have lost their homes, including many members of the Hyatt staff.<br><br>While the Hyatt and the Ka-anapali resort area are undamaged, power, phone service and internet are unavailable from Lahaina north with no certain timeline for restoration. We are working with Complete Conference Coordinators and APS to determine whether or not the meeting will be able to proceed as scheduled and will reach a final decision by the end of the early registration period,<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><strong>September 8</strong>.<br><br>We encourage you to continue to register for the meeting as if it is going ahead but to be flexible in making travel plans. <br><br>While we do not want to burden the island if it is not in their best interests, we would like to support their economy and rebuilding efforts if it is feasible to do so. We would also encourage members to consider donating to local Hawaiian charities to help residents recover from the most significant disaster to affect the state in more than 60 years.<br><br>We will update with any new information as it becomes available, including any contingency arrangement.
