Hi DIRC Folks,

The message below is the schedule for the EIC DIRC collaboration meeting at JLab next week.  They've asked us to discuss some of the GlueX DIRC plans there.  As a reminder, some GSI/PANDA folks are a part of this collaboration who will be at JLab next week and are interested in getting involved in our DIRC project.  The GlueX discussion will happen at 1:30 on Friday afternoon (3/27) and I'm working on getting a BlueJeans connection setup.

In other news, this week I checked in a first version of the DIRC geometry into HDDS.  Yi had started a version a while back that I've been working to bring up to speed with the current design.  So far I've seen some reasonable looking "rings" from this simulation using the old cylindrical focusing mirror instead of the 3-segment mirror.  Adding the DIRC in the geometry slows down HDGEANT significantly, since GEANT is propagating the photons as they bounce around the bars, etc.  Eventually we'll need to find ways to speed this up (eg. what John is doing in his algorithm to analytically propagate the photons), or some other tricks to allow for larger scale use.

For the readout I've been talking with some of the CLAS12 RICH people about their MaPMT readout.  As we already knew they've done some extensive testing of and developed what looks like a suitable readout electronics for our use.  They have a test lab setup for QA of the MaPMTs that I'm going to see next week in case we might find that useful for our purposes.
