[Halld-pid-upgrade] Update on DIRC installation progress and next meeting (Tuesday January 22 @ 1 pm)

Hi All,

Thanks to the hard work of many people, especially the Hall D technical and electronics groups, we've made great progress on the installation of the lower optical box these past 2 weeks, and continue to be on track for commissioning with the start of beam at the end of this month.  There is, of course, still plenty to do, but so far we are on schedule.

For the upper optical box however, we had a setback yesterday when the fused silica window arrived at JLab and was broken in the package before we opened it.  Therefore, we’ve made the decision not to install the upper optical box for this Spring’s commissioning run and focus on commissioning only the lower optical box. 

Finally, based on the results of our Doodle poll, we’ll have our next DIRC meeting on Tuesday, January 22nd at 1 pm.  Assuming this time slot works out, we’ll stick with this for the remainder of the Spring semester.
