Present:
FSU: Paul Eugenio, Sasha Ostrovidov
JLab: Eugene Chudakov, Mark Dalton, Chuck Hutton, Mark Ito (chair)
Announcements
We have dropped the idea of doing a contract extension for the
machining of support structure parts at FSU. Incidental charges
will be covered by JLab attributed to the support frame activity
per original plan.
Most, if not all, of the drawings for pieces of the support
structure to be machined at FSU are ready for signature. Chuck
will send the ones for aluminum collars and the light guide
holders ("Swiss cheese") pieces to Randall so he can estimate
raw material needs.
Maurizio is out of town, but he left all of the lab set-up looking
good.
Review of Minutes from the Last Meeting
We reviewed the minutes from the
[[GlueX_TOF_Meeting,_August_1,_2013#Minutes|August 1st meeting. There
were no significant comments.
Construction News
FSU had made great progress on the gluing issue, PMTs to light
guides. By eye, some joints had dull spots on the glue joints. In
these cases, the tubes were removed and the guides sanded,
polished and re-glued.
One crate of modules has been packed for shipment.
More wood for crates will be purchased now that the design is
final.
Each modules is being labeled so that the PMTs and scintillator
can be identified if needed later. The marking will allow the
installation location to be read off the modules. The plan is to
pack modules with similar installation location together.
Testing is proceeding, six modules at a time.
The recent TDC failure stopped production for a while. The
module was not recognizing a front panel trigger. The problem
appears to be intermittent. It may depend on how the module is
seated in the crate. Testing has re-started with instructions
not to touch the crate. JLab is sending a replacement/spare to
FSU.
Cosmic Test Studies
Sasha presented recent results on a variety of topics coming from the
cosmic tests using six modules. See his web page
(http://128.186.19.133/~ostrov/tof/20130815/) for details. The
sections of his page are:
FADC signal shape
High-voltage (gain) balancing
Time-walk corrections
Possible data selection cut
Mystery of trigger timing jump
Sasha is also working on automating some of the steps in the module
testing procedure.
