GlueX TOF Meeting, May 22, 2014

Minutes

    Present:
      * FSU: Sasha Ostrovidov
      * JLab: Hussein Al Ghoul, Chuck Hutton, Mark Ito (chair), Vanik
        Kakoyan, Beni Zihlmann

Update on High Voltage Control

    Hussein: I discussed the HV GUI's with Nerses and Vanik, and they gave
    me a brief description of how to control the channels. The below photos
    are snapshots of the actual interface.

    The following is a part of the Nerses's email suggesting a naming
    scheme for the TOF:

    "TOF:hv:PLAIN:PADDLE:PADDLE_SIDE:status or
    TOF:hv:PLAIN:DETECTOR_SIDE:CHANNEL:status or
    TOF:hv:DETECTOR_SIDE:CHANNEL:status

    Where PLAIN could be {1,2} or {F,B} (i.e. Forward, Backward) or {U,D}
    (i.e. Upstream, Downstream) PADDLE could be [1-22] PADDLE_SIDE [1-2] or
    it could be {N,S,U,D} (i.e. North South Up Down) or {N,S,T,B} (i.e.
    North South Top Bottom) or {L,R,T,B} (i.e. Left Right Top Bottom)
    DETECTOR_SIDE could be {1,2,3,4} or it could be {N,S,U,D} (i.e. North
    South Up Down) or {N,S,T,B} (i.e. North South Top Bottom) or {L,R,T,B}
    (i.e. Left Right Top Bottom) The channel, I guess, would be just number
    in the range 1-44"

Discussion

    We discussed some of the design choices:
      * Having green always labeled "off" and red always labeled "on", the
        convention being, look at the color to determine status, read at
        the label to determine click action. We discussed whether this was
        an obvious convention.
      * Having only two states indicated: green meaning "finished ramping
        up" and red meaning other, i. e., ramping up, ramping down,
        tripped, or finished ramping down. We discussed whether these other
        states could be indicated since they are reported by the hardware.
