Hi Mark et al.,

The long-term performance of SiPMs in GlueX (BCAL, ST, PS) is of 
interest both to us and to the general physics community, including EIC. 
It might make sense to take a unified approach. In particular, an 
important common input to the discussion is the expected total radiation 
dose delivered to each of the detectors. To my knowledge simulations of 
the radiation have not been done since studies were made to determine 
suitability of SiPM sensors during the design stage of the experiment. 
This is a non-trivial project and likely will require the use of FLUKA 
in addition to GEANT4. It would be good to identify somebody to take on 
this task.

Measurements have been done to look at the pedestals for BCAL, but the 
SiPMs in the ST are likely to be more affected. I know that Beni is 
taking periodic look at the ST (perhaps all sensors?) so it would be 
interesting to compare. If I remember correctly, the technology of the 
sensors is the same, although the format (array vs single 3x3 units) is 
different.
