GlueX PID Meeting, April 30, 2010 Minutes * FSU: Sasha Ostrovidov * JLab: Mark Ito (chair), Sascha Somov, Elliott Wolin Minutes from the last meeting We reviewed [18]the minutes from last time. Tim and Eugene are reviewing total helium use in the Hall to confirm the justification for purchasing the pulse tube refrigerator for the target. Status Report Sasha Ostrovidov gave us an update on the TOF prototype development. The ADC pedestals problem has been fixed. A large effective DC offset was induced by bad levels on the gate signal. After the fix, pedestals returned to normal, sub-signal-level channels. He showed [20]new plots of left vs. right channel ADC values for a 80 ns wide gate. Sasha will try to lengthen the gate further. He will now turn to analyzing this data to get a time-walk correction. To begin with, he is using a parabolic fit to the time as function of pulse height on each end and minimizing the width of the combined signal by varying the resulting six parameters. Sasha would welcome suggestions for other approaches to this problem. Mark reported that Paul Eugenio is in contact with Hamamatsu and will soon receive a quote for six additional phototubes. Paul is also working on the construction MOU.
