Hi Simon,

The outer diameter of the pipe is indeed 6.125" (155mm) but the
readout resides in the area just before this pipe (between the
start counter and the 6.125" pipe). I did not show the pipe in
my drawing but the readout length of 2.112" resides interely in
such area. Only the cables go over the pipe.

Chuck, Mark, please clarify these dimensions and also the length
of the cable to the upstream area.

Thanks and best regards,
Actually, I think the clearance is even less than the 2 cm I
stated in my previous message -- it's more like 1 cm. I
have attached the drawing that James Lagner sent me and my
approximation of the geometry in GEANT.
I've been working on implementing the start counter into the
simulation and to do so I needed a drawing of the region of
the beam line near the target. This drawing shows a 6" ID
aluminum beam pipe within a few centimeters of the upstream
end of the start counter. At the end of this beam pipe is a
conical section that slopes down to the radius of the target
vessel. In fact the start counter appears to rest on (or
come very close to) part of the beam pipe in this region.
Unless I am not understanding some aspect of the geometry, it
looks like the ST2 board cannot fit in the region indicated by
the drawing on the last page of Fernando's document as drawn.
Furthermore there is only about 2 cm clearance between the
inner shell of the cdc and the 6" beam pipe.

Hi all,
I have attached an update on the ST readout. Please review and provide
feedback.
We have received the first set of SiPMs (50 um) and I plan to send the
PCBs for fab by the end of this week. I am planning to get two sets
assembled (50 um) by the end of the month with one set to be shipped to
Werner. Similar assemblies will be provided for the 100 um units once
these arrive.
The designs of these PCBs (ST1 and ST2) are intended to be the final
implementations. The prototype ST3 PCB is only intended for the
prototype tests and the final version will be installed in a chassis
which will be located upstream of the target. We will need to determine
its location soon.
Chuck, I need to know the length of cable (micro-coax ribbon cable
assembly) needed to connect the ST2 to the chassis so we can order it
for the tests.
Best regards,
Fernando
