<div class="moz-cite-prefix">Hi all,<br>
I would like to clarify here one point about shipping of equipment
away from the lab.<br>
<br>
If there is a contract with a contract number in place between
jlab and an institution <br>
then there is no problem to send whatever is needed for the
construction/testing of <br>
the detector to that institution to fulfil the contract.<br>
<br>
If however there exists only a MOU between the lab and an
institution and the lab wants<br>
to send some equipment to that institution then DOE approval is
required.<br>
<br>
cheers,<br>

Werner,

We have all the cables for installation, which is scheduled to
occur in late June to early July. Note, however, that the readout
w/ SiPMs is scheduled to be available by the end of July.
<br>
<br>
We need to minimize any outside requests for equipment to be
shipped from JLab due to installation schedules. I also heard that
shipping of any equipment out of JLab now needs to be approved by
DOE. Please check on this as soon as possible and develop a
plan/schedule, considering installation in the hall.

Best regards,

Start Counter Meeting, January 24, 2013
<br>
Minutes
<br>
<br>
Present:
<br>
* FIU: Werner Boeglin, Puneet Khetarpal, Eric Pooser
<br>
* JLab: Chuck Hutton, Mark Ito (chair)
<br>
<br>
Contract
<br>
<br>
The proposal from FIU is past due. On the other hand, Mark
has
<br>
exchanged email with Jarrod Fitzpatrick, and this situation
seems less
<br>
than dire. Werner thinks that he can come up with a draft
Procedures
<br>
and QA plan by Monday. Mark agreed to review the plan.
<br>
<br>
Counter Construction
<br>
<br>
Eric is in contact with Chuck Hurlbut at Eljen and Robert
McNeal (at
<br>
McNeal) and is getting quotes on their respective
construction steps.
<br>
The cost from McNeal should be about the same as for the
previous
<br>
prototypes.
<br>
<br>
Werner asked about cables for testing the counters. Mark
told us that
<br>
his understanding is that JLab will supply the cables. Mark
will
<br>
confirm that with Fernando. We decided that we would make a
tentative
<br>
plan to try to test all thirty counters at once at FIU.
That will drive
<br>
plans for lending electronics and for manufacturing cables
in advance
<br>
of installation in the Hall.
<br>
<br>
Eric reported that Eljen is suggesting that we use EJ-200
rather than
<br>
the EJ-212 we had planned for originally. We will order
five counters
<br>
initially, with height and width of 3 mm × 30 mm before
machining.
<br>
Including the cost of practice runs, it should come out to
about $200
<br>
per counter. Eljen says that once the order has been
placed, the
<br>
counters can be manufactured in a matter of days.
<br>
<br>
Chuck Hutton will ask around and see how folks at the Lab
have made
<br>
sure that vendors adhere to the required shipping
standards.
<br>
<br>
Assembly Drawings
<br>
<br>
We looked at a set of drawings Chuck has done with the
final dimensions
<br>
of the start counter support structure.
