Sascha,
Depends on what they are used for.
If an ion chamber is used for beam tuning, get anything you think you
might need to make your life easier during commissioning. And work with
Spata to make sure that the gains on the ion chambers will be high
enough to actually see a signal in Hall D that's above the leakage current.
If an ion chamber is used for so-called machine protection in the fast
shutdown system (eg, a threshold set on the one near the tagger dump?),
it may be useful to have a pair at that location. If one fails, it can
be masked after a quick call to Arne and you'll be running again an hour
later. Otherwise, you're down for a day until it gets fixed or swapped.
The priority is low though, since 12 GeV project funds are tight and
you can always add another ion chamber later out of Ops funds.
