Subject: firmware for TAGM Vbias control board
To: Hall D beam working group <halld-tagger@jlab.org>

Dear colleagues,

Happy New Year to you all. I would like to request that we all start off the New Year with our first biweekly meeting on 1/6 next Monday. We need to coordinate that with the Physics working group, but since we were the first to miss a meeting due to the shutdown, I think we can claim the first slot in the New Year.

Prior to Monday's meeting, I would like to share a document in which I describe the design and simulation of the firmware for the Vbias controller for the tagger microscope, which controls the individual bias voltages for each of the 500 SiPMs in the system. This firmware is what we will be burning into the boards over the next several weeks, before getting ready to ship them to Jlab. It is important that this firmware be robust and contain reasonable protections against human error and bugs in the host software. The google doc linked below is enabled for comments. If you are not interested in the internals of FPGA programming, you can skip to the end where the configuration parameters and the interface specification are described.
