Hi All,

Below is a note from the straw tube manufacturer. He plans on putting
each straw inside a stiffer cylinder and packaging in polyethelene which
can be removed as a whole from the wooden crate and put directly in the
cleanroom. The driver for this is the cost of labor for the previous
shipment method. Also, he stated that he would expect shipment before
the end of August in a phone conversation yesterday.

Cheers,

       Tim

Dear Tim,

I confirm that we will be putting the balance of your order for detector
straws in production early next week.

Although the packaging was successful, it was a very difficult assembly
with the tubes and we have therefore changed our procedure for the
balance of your order. Many of our detector straws are supplied in a
polyester tube matrix consisting of a honeycomb of polyester tubes into
which the individual straws are inserted. This process has been
successfully employed on smaller straws and due to the thin wall section
of your own requirement, we believe it is worthwhile to take this other
approach to packing. The advantage is that the matrix can be double
wrapped in polyethylene and can therefore be removed from the crate and
taken straight into your clean room. I am confident that this new
approach will provide a successful solution as each straw is
individually protected.

Kind regards

Patrick Hester

Hi Patrick,

Carnegie Mellon University has examined the latest batch of straws and
found them acceptable. Packaging was adequate, scratches are gone, parts

are clean. Please use this methodology for manufacturing and shipping
the remainder of the straw tubes.

Please proceed with the remainder of the contract.

Can you supply me with an expected shipping date?

Thanks,

       Tim
