Hi,
The PLC will support just about any type of termperature sensor.
There are two main options:
1. use a sensor that connects to some A-B module and purchase the module.
Usually we use signal conditioners between the transducer and module to ensure
ground isolation. The module might contain an ADC or 4-20 mA input.
2. use a temperature monitor/controller of some sort, then talk to the PLC via
Ethernet/IP or RS232 or some other high-level protocol. We are doing this in
the coil test, as it was the cheapest and most convenient option despite having
to learn how to talk to the cryo termperature monitor via RS232.
There may be other options, depending on the temperature range and the type of
sensor.
Let me know what you are thinking of purchasing before you purchase it. Note
that I only care about the final experiment control system, not what you do at
your lab.
Sincerely,
Elliott
