Dear Collaborators,
Accelerator has reached its milestone of delivering high current (70 microA) 11 GeV beam to Hall A for sufficient time. However, the RF cavity trip rate at such current is too high to permit an effcicient physics program. Today, accelerator will perform more RF recovery in order to decrease this rate below an acceptable level. This evening, accelerator will try to separate the Hall A and D beam using RF separation with a different beam optics that requires less power from the separating cavity. If the separation is successful, then beam will be delivered to both Hall A and D. If not, it remains to be decided which hall will get the beam. Due to the accelerator work today, all Wednesdays shifts are on standby. (Standby shifts means that the shift crew should be close to JLab and ready to come to shift on short notice).
I will send an update this afternoon.
Thank you,
Alexandre Deur, Hall D Run Coordinator.
