Dear collaborators,
Hall D has still not received any beam yet and there is little chance that we will get any until at least tomorrow. Consequently, all shifts are on standby until tomorrow, 8am. Standby means that the shift takers should be able to come and man shifts on a few hours notice, and should give their contact numbers to the RC and PDL. So if you are concerned by this, please send your contact number(s) to Benedikt Zihlmann and me.
The main problem that the accelerator is facing is some Beam Loss Monitor tripping, indicating scrapping of the beam. This problem has been investigated for a couple of days now but without good headway. In addition, the commissioning of the RF separator is not over, although very good progress has been made there. But there is still maybe a few hours of commissioning before accelerator is able to support multi-hall high energy beam delivery. The Beam Loss Monitor needs to be fixed before to finalize this commissioning. Without separator Hall D will not run as it has presently a lower priority for beam delivery than Hall A.
Best regards,
Alexandre Deur, Hall D Run Coordinator.
