Dear GlueX-Collaborators,
Today, we completed our readiness checklist and asked for the Hall to be in controlled access, starting this evening: we are ready for the Fall 2017 run.
Accelerator is making steady progress in spinning the beam in the machine and fixing the usual problems arising when accelerator comes back on-line. The current plan is to start tuning the photon beam sometimes Sunday, a bit earlier than the original schedule (Monday 4th). This means that we will not need to man the counting room Saturday, as it was optimistically hoped. We keep the shifts on standby however, just in case. (As a reminder, standby means that the shift takers should be able to come and man shifts on a few hours notice, but there is no need to come in shift if not called-in).
David Lawrence will send an update tomorrow morning on the accelerator progress
We decided to cancel the RC meeting of Saturday since we do not expect producing the photon beam until sometimes Sunday. The next RC meeting will this be Sunday, 8:30am.
A request to the sub-system experts: if you find that some problem developed today or Saturday, please make sure you document this in the elog. Likewise, if you fix some problem, please document it there as well. If photon beam seems likely to come early Sunday, we may have a small meeting Saturday late afternoon among the local experts to discuss the status of the sub-systems. If not, we will discuss this at the regular RC meeting on Sunday, 8:30am.
Best regards,
Alexandre Deur, Hall D Run Coordinator.
