Dear Collaborators,

Repairs of the accelerator are still going on. The cause for the suspected ice ball in the beam line tube, that had impaired beam tuning, has not yet been found. No leak was found at warm temperature. However, a cold leak was found in the insulating vacuum (not the beamline vacuum) in the same area. The leak is from the 4He system to the insulating vaccum and cannot be fixed at the moment. More pumps will be added to the area in order to maintain a good enough vacuum. Leak checking is continuing and should be completed by the end of the day.
At the moment, pulling out the module, which would cause more delays (weeks) is not being considered as the most likely course.

The accelerator operation group has advised us to cancel shifts until next Friday (Sept. 14th) 8am. We will also cancel the next few RC meetings. The next one will be Thursday, Sept 13th, 8:45am. I'll update you if any important information arises meanwhile.

If you are traveling to JLab, please be also aware that we may also have a major hurricane (Florence) reaching us in the end of next week.

Best regards,

Alexandre Deur
