[Halld] Run update. Hall to beam permit today at noon

Dear Collaborators,
There was good progress with the tune of the beam during the holidays. Beam has been sent to the Hall D dumplet just before the tagger Hall. However, today (Monday, Dec. 2nd) due various hiccups, MCC will not do the planned tests (spin dance and RD stress tests). Those are postponed to a date not determined yet. Instead, MCC will finalize its tuning to the Halls. Consequently, we have to be ready for physics beam by 4pm today and the Hall will close at noon today (PSS status to beam permit) in order to allow for final beam tuning to Hall D.
One issue affecting us currently is that the 5th pass RF separator is not operational. This means beam cannot be sent to both Hall B (5 passes ) and D (5.5 passes) at the same time. The separator experts are working on fixing this problem today. (The tuning to Halls B and D will be done in alternance.)
Please let me know if you have any question.
Thank you,
Alexandre Deur,
Hall D run coordinator (757) 383 5542

Subject: Run update. Shifts Monday/Tuesday owl on standby
Dear Collaborators,
The plan, as shown at the weekly MCC meeting today, is to start physics beam delivery to Hall D at 8am on Tuesday Dec. 3rd. Consequently, shifts are now on standby up to Tuesday 8am.
This 24h delay is only due to the usual difficulties of establishing the beam. Otherwise, most of the accelerator work is going well and is more or less on track.
The nominal beam energy for Hall D is now decided and is 11.41 GeV. We will run at this energy providing that it is sustainable. The previous runs were at 11.6 GeV.
The Hall is ready for beam. It is going now to Control Access and will remain so until we need to close it (presumably Monday evening) for beam delivery.
Please let me know if you have any question.
Thank you,
Alexandre Deur,
Hall D run coordinator (757) 383 5542
