Subject: Hall D cooling tower leak
Hi Folks,
As discussed, there is a leak in a fitting in the Hall D cooling towers. Carroll would like to do the repair Monday. It will require a chilled water outage to Hall D and the Tagger hall. There will be no water flow at all fo up to 4 hours. Systems affected are;
Hall D refrigerator will lose compressor cooling and will have to be shut off - Jonathan and Joe are discussing a plan for shutting down and recovering.
Monday may not be practical since it will take some time to prepare the refrigerator and Solenoid magnet for the outage.
Hall D components cooled by chilled water (BCAL Chillers, FCAL chiller, Target compressor) will have to be turned off and then restarted.
Hall D counting house, tagger service building and Hall D will be without air conditioning for up to 4 hours. This will affect the temperature in the computer room and Hall.
The LCW will not be cooled so all magnets will need to be off.
There needs to be careful discussion before doing this.
I will not be here Monday but Scot Speigel will be the contact for Hall D.
I can be reached on my cell phone if needed.
Regards,
Tim Whitlatch
