At this morning's run meeting we discussed having "guidance" for all the monitoring histograms to provide some text to describe the images for new (or newly returned) shift takers. Thankfully David thought about this long ago, and such a mechanism exists already! On the left hand side of the RootSpy display you can click the Guidance button and a window will appear with some text describing the content of the plot and who to contact in case there's a problem:

This is a reminder that all detector experts should add this guidance to their macros so it's available via the RootSpy GUI (see the example below). You can make the edits in GitHub through a pull request, or you can send the text to me and I can do a global update to the macros with your new guidance.

For an example please see HistMacro_Trigger.C on GitHub at https://github.com/JeffersonLab/halld_recon/blob/master/src/plugins/monitoring/highlevel_online/HistMacro_Trigger.C

// Guidance: --------------------------------------------
//
// This page includes a mixture of low-level and high-level
// information. Values in the table regarding numbers of
// triggers can be highly sensitive to calibration. They
// also may be slightly different between Amporphous and
// diamond radiators. If the values differ by more than
// around 20% from the reference, try hitting the "Reset"
// button to see if they improve with new statistics.
//
// If you have concerns about the values in the table or
// any of the plots looking significantly different than
// the reference, please contact one of:
//
//  Add contact info here...
//
// End Guidance: ----------------------------------------
