Hi Jackson,
I share the concern that the interpretation of J/psi photoproduction is currently under intense theoretical debate. Should we somehow acknowledge this?
I am also concerned that we might overplay the excesses. The statistical significance of an excess in the sub-threshold region seems about 2 sigma. So "suggest an excess” in the abstract is maybe okay. However the conclusion, "and note an excess production relative to theoretical predictions” seems too strong.
In the discussion surrounding Fig. 3 the argument is that above threshold agrees and sub-threshold does not. My eyes see approximately the same level of disagreement, especially at larger α_miss. Did you look quantitatively at the agreement in Fig. 3? Later it is mentioned that "is preferred by the data over the plane-wave”, is this a quantitative statement? Would we consider providing numbers for the level of agreement?
Minor
“utilizing”: I would prefer “using" here.
"proton proton”: proton is repeated.
Best,
Mark

Hello SRC-CT group members.
As discussed in this morning’s meeting, given the wrap-up of the internal J/ψ analysis review, I am emailing to distribute the draft of the manuscript “First Measurement of Near- and Sub-Threshold J/ψ Photoproduction off Nuclei” (along with the supplemental material for the paper). Comments and questions regarding the analysis and the manuscript are appreciated and should be sent to me at (jrpybus at mit.edu<mailto:jrpybus at mit.edu>).
In addition, here is the google-form signup link for authorship to the paper, so please sign up now to be included as an author on the final paper:

Comments on this draft would be appreciated by the end of this week, Friday, June 29.
Best regards,
Jackson Pybus
