[Hps-analysis] [EXTERNAL] Mass calibration

Dear All,

On the question of mass calibration, I want to remind everyone of the work Takashi did in late 2018 (attached), showing that there are no easy options. In particular, note that the Q-value in K-short decays to pi+pi- leads to vanishingly small detector acceptance (should be true roughly independent of the Kaon production mechanism).

In any case, the phi->K+K- possibility has only a few days’ exploration, so it’s far too early to draw any conclusions, with questions everywhere from trigger, to particle ID, to kinematics, in addition to whether the tracking even has resolution yet to make a peak.

We have to keep exploring all of these ideas, because we cannot fully align the SVT without a mass reference.

Best,
Tim
