Minutes

Present at JLab: F.-X., Krister, Stepan, Hovanes

Present at SLAC: Sho, Pelle, Takashi

Present at Glasgow: Ken, Bryan

Motor Setup for
SLAC

Hovanes has the desktop computer and the VME crate setup,
and the driver box connected to the VME.

Operating without encoder feedback for now.

There seems to be a problem with either the motor driver
configuration or the driver wiring.

Krister is tied up with CLAS12 magnets, Denny Insley will
probably help Hovanes with the motor driver box and cables.

Denny will need to make a short (~2m) encoder cable (5-ping
to trim-trio) and to figure out the setting for the driver
box.

Denny can also start ordering and making the cables for the
HPS motors, CLAS motor cables were cut during decommissioning.

2 boxes downstream of CLAS, 1 motor box upstream of CLAS

F.-X. needs to send the drawing with the locations of
the motors required for the HPS beamline to Krister and
Denny.

For SVT motors, in addition to the cable for the motor
leads we will need to find a cable for encoder (8-strands
twisted cable shielded, RS-422)

Stepan told us that Chris Cuevas can help with manpower if
any electronics related or cable-making work needs to be done.

Voltage GUI
requirements

Bryan is ready to work on the SVT and ECAL voltage GUIs, can
work remotely at Glasgow.

Hovanes presented what he thinks needs to be done in general
or the ECAL and SVT voltage GUIs.

Bryan will be visiting JLab for two weeks in the beginning
of March (CLAS collaboration meeting)

Bryan will also be able to travel to JLab at the end of
April to try the software at JLab and then travel to SLAC to
setup the voltage controls SVT test .

Pelle will try to find out when the SVT test occurs, and
let Bryan know, preferable by beginning of April.

SVT Interlocks

Hovanes and Krister met with Dave Butler from Hall D and
described him the requirements for SVT interlocks

Dave gave us his recommendations for the PLC modules as well
as quotes from the local (for JLab) PLC dealer.

If no objections are received by Friday morning, Hovanes
will forward these quotes to Marco for procurement.

Stepan asked if the flow meter for the SVT interlocks will
be speced and procured by JLab or SLAC groups. Hovanes'
understanding is that Marco will take care of specifying the
flow meter and either JLab or SLAC can buy it. Pelle will
double check this to determine who does this.

Hovanes contacted JLab PSS people regarding having an FSD
input to the SVT interlocks. PSS group will help us to set it
up.

SVT chller(s)

Hovanes was curious if there was any decision on using a
second chiller for SVT. In particular, if there was a
decision, what would be the requirements for it in terms of
controls.

According to Pelle, SVT group is strongly leaning towards a
second chiller for FE boards, and it would be set to room
temperature. The FE board chiller would also need to be
interlocked (exactly the same way as the main chiller) and
will need to be remotely controlled and monitored in EPICS.

Pelle will further discuss the needs of FE board chiller
with Marco and let us know at the next meeting.

Action items

Hovanes will meet with Denny and explain what needs to be
done for the motor setup (encoder cable, driver settings).

Denny will start working on the cable and the motor box.

F-X. will send a drawing of where the beamline motors need
to be for HPS 2015 so that Denny can start procuring and
making motor cables and laying them in the Hall.

Pelle will find out when the SVT full test at SLAC will take
place and let Bryan know by April , so that Bryan can make
plans.

Hovanes will send the quotes with the list of PLC modules
with quotes to Marco sometime this Friday if he does not
receive objections.

Hovanes, Stepan and F.-X. will stay in touch with JLab PSS
group regarding the accelerator's FSD input for SVT interlocks
and come up with a plan by the end of February.

Pelle will talk to Marco regarding the following items and
let us know the results on the next meeting:

Flow meter - who specs it, and who buys it.

Requirements for controls and monitoring for the second
FE-board chiller.
