Subject: HPS Election PLEASE VOTE
Dear HPS:
As we decided at our Collaboration Meeting last October, the HPS interim EC (Stepan, Maurik, and John) are to conduct elections for HPS membership and membership of the Executive and Publications and Presentations Committees before our next Collaboration meeting. Here we ask you to vote for new members and the EC. We will defer election to the PPC until we have more nominations for that position.
Voting instructions are at the end of this email.
New Members
The following people requested membership in the HPS Collaboration. Each of them has included a brief statement (below) of their commitment and contributions to HPS. Membership was also requested for Omar Moreno by his faculty advisor, Alex Grillo. The interim EC, acting in accord with the HPS Bylaws, has accepted this nomination and granted Omar membership in the HPS Collaboration.
NORMAN GRAF
My contributions to date have been the detector response simulation and the event reconstruction software. I plan to continue my involvement in these efforts, increasing the level of realism for the detector simulations, and algorithm development and implementation for the trigger and reconstruction of real data.
I also expect to be involved in the data taking, data quality assurance (e.g.
alignment and calibration) and data analysis.
PELLE HANSSON
My intention is to contribute to the HPS experiment in the areas of instrumentation and software including service work and maintenance during active data taking. My involvement in HPS has since 11/29/11 been the main focus of my work with an effort level of approximately 70% FTE which is also the level expected for 2012, with substantial time variation adapted to the needs of the experiment.
JEREMY MCCORMICK
Contributions so far have included providing simulation tools and creating models of HPS detector components such as the ECAL. I am also a primary maintainer of the lcsim framework. Future contributions will be along similar lines.
Members of the Executive Committee.
Recall that 4 members are to be elected, to serve along with the three spokespeople. The two candidates receiving the most votes will have two year terms on the EC; the other two will serve for one year.
The Bylaws state, "The EC shall make decisions regarding major collaboration issues, in particular: membership, coordination of groups and allocation of resources within the Collaboration, resolution of conflicts in construction and operation caused by different physics requirements, scheduling, and the coordination of student theses. The Executive committee shall also monitor the progress in design and construction of HPS instrumentation. They will have the overall responsibility for assuring the smooth operation of the collaboration."
Those nominated to serve on the Executive committee are:
F-X GIROD
MATT GRAHAM
VALERY KUBAROVSKY
TAKASHI MARUYAMA
OMAR MORENO
TIM NELSON
