Subject: Please read and act
Dear Jefferson Lab User,
I'm sure you are aware of the ongoing deliberations of the NSAC subcommittee ("Tribble committee 2") on the implementation
of the NSAC long range plan. The outcome of this exercise could directly impact the future program of Jefferson Lab. For this reason, the members of UGBoD feel that it would be very helpful if you can express your support by signing a petition to that subcommittee. Please go to
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHRvLUdVX2RLczJIakZ5bmY2SDZ4ZkE6MA#gid=0
and fill out the required information plus any of the optional information you wish. In case you're wondering, constituencies of other labs or subfields of nuclear physics have gathered signatures on similar petitions, and a strong showing of support from Jefferson Lab users would definitely be helpful to convey the broad interest in the future 12 GeV Jefferson Lab program.
Signing the petition will only take less than a minute of your time. We hope to gather enough signatures in time to present the result to the subcommittee at the upcoming town meeting at the DNP fall meeting in Newport Beach, CA (October 26).
If you want to do more, here are some suggestions:
- inform yourself by reading the 12 GeV "white paper" at http://arxiv.org/abs/1208.1244 and background information at https://wiki.jlab.org/cugwiki/index.php/Science_Funding
- write letters to your congress representatives and local newspaper editors in support of science funding
- submit your comments directly to the subcommittee via email or the interface athttp://cyclotron.tamu.edu/nsac-2012-rfc/doku.php/nsac-2012-rfc
- Above all, attend the town meeting and the preceding mini-town meeting on hadronic physics (October 25), which doubles as our usual users satellite meeting:https://wiki.jlab.org/cugwiki/index.php/Town_Meeting_at_DNP2012
Please see https://wiki.jlab.org/cugwiki/index.php/NSAC_subcommittee_feedback for more information
Thank you - Sebastian for the Users Group Board of Directors
