[Hps] Report on ECal simulations

Hello All,
Any reason not to use the existing HPS svn repository for this? One thing we should consider is
how public we want each document to be. I can imagine there might be reasons we would want
to keep some documents internal. I would also propose that there be a distinction between notes
and publications, so a structure along the lines of:

docs
  pubs
  notes

I would like to see as much of the provenance for each document preserved in this repository, so
that in the future we can, if necessary, reproduce the contents. This would include the analysis code
and list of data (or MC) files used as input.
Norman

Hello Matt, and all,

There is an SVN repository at Jlab, which is easy to use for all of us. Just to check, I created an HPS repository at: https://phys12svn.jlab.org/repos/hps. You can checkout the empty directory with:

svn checkout https://phys12svn.jlab.org/repos/hps

and then supply your Jlab username and password.

We can create a subdirectory there "Documentation" and then subdirectories off of that for each project.

Best,
Maurik

Thanks Michel,

I plan to comment on the issue with the mass resolution soon (it is on the list)…but I have a more general comment first: we need some sort of documentation system.

To me, this consists of two things:

— a place on the web to put documents
— a common repository for all of the source with version control…the latex, figures, etc. If practical, macros and even the data used to make the plots could go here

With regard to the first point, I created a simple table in confluence and took the liberty of putting this document in there (HPS document #1)
https://confluence.slac.stanford.edu/display/hpsg/HPS+Documentation
Take a look and comment…this may be enough for us.

For the second point, we should probably create an svn package (or git?) and each document is a new sub-package to this main one. This is what we did in BaBar and it works pretty well.

Thoughts?

Matt
