Hi John,
As I said in the meeting, I'd be very interested in attending any
proposed workshop, and dedicating some real time to advancing my own
tasks on the software effort, as well as keeping on top of ECal
coordination duties. A thought did occur to me regarding the format
though; in the time since the last workshop, a lot of us who were new to
the software back then have made great progress, perhaps to the extent
where we really just need to be in the same time zone to get feedback on
why what we're working on doesn't work, how to fix it, and why doing it
in the way that didn't work was never appropriate.
Being able to do that face-to-face would be even better, but we may not
need the large group format from the previous workshop. What about a
drop-in format in parallel to the CLAS meeting, if the lab can
accommodate us? I know several of us have engagements at the CLAS
meeting too, but a lot of those working on software, particularly
students, would likely be able to fit in any CLAS talks of interest
around an appropriately arranged workshop.
Cheers,
Stuart

The purpose is to provide real working time with the experts, to bring those new to the software toward real mastery and to make headway on important software projects. The Software Workshop following the recent SLAC Collaboration meeting provided a strong start for many collaborators new to slic and lcsim and was judged very useful.
