Dear Norman,

For the radiation training, you must schedule this exam at least 24 hours in advance. It is possible to complete your RadWorker I qualifications in one day provided that you schedule your practical factors 24 hours in advance by calling (757)269-6021 or email mkeller at jlab.org.

For the walkthrough, we currently have several sessions per week, organized by Stepan and Doug, as indicated in the ERG. I would urge everyone to take a look at those documents. You must read them before taking shifts.

In summary, it is conceivable to do everything in one single day, however it will be tight. It is safer to plan for 2 days if one is coming to take their first shift.

Best regards,
FX

Hello FX,
Thanks for the reminder. How often are the non-web-based training
courses scheduled? How should those arriving from off-site to take shifts
schedule to take them? How much lead time is necessary?
Norman

Dear HPS,

As a reminder on training requirements for taking shifts, when planning your trip to JLab :

- Please take a moment to read the documents on the HPS JLab webpage :
http://wwwold.jlab.org/Hall-B/run-web/

Reading those documents is the starting point to take shifts, and is mandatory for all shift takers !

The training requirements are summarized in several of those documents. You will need :
SAF100 (EH&S orientation)
SAF801kd (Rad Worker training)
SAF103 (ODH)
SAF111 (Walkthrough)

- The web-based applications for some of those trainings can be found at :
http://www.jlab.org/div_dept/train/webbasedtraining.html
If you want to minimize the time it will take to complete your training requirements when arriving at JLab, you should take those courses in advance. Please note that some trainings cannot be fully completed online. That obviously includes the Walkthrough. The Rad Worker skill also has a practical exam which does not expire (you only need to take it once).

- The status of your trainings can be checked on the MIS Required Skills page :
https://misportal.jlab.org/mis/apps/training/Show_My_CIS_Training_history.cfm?app_id=409

Best regards,
FX
