Dear HPS,
We'll hold an election at the upcoming HPS Collaboration meeting at JLAB to vote on approving Robert Johnson (UCSC) and Domenico D'Urso (Sassari) for membership in HPS.
Please see the letter supporting Robert's application above, and copy of emails from Valeria Sipala on behalf of Domenico below.
If you can't attend the meeting at JLAB, please vote with a "yes" or "no" for each of Robert and Domenico by sending an email to the HPS spokespeople, cc'd above. We'll add your vote in with those taken at the meeting.
You must vote before May 5, 2017.
For the HPS EC,
John
Email from Valeria:
I would like to ask you to accept Domenico D'Urso, the new researcher hired by the University of Sassari, as a member of the HPS Collaboration
He started his research activity working to the Pierre Auger Observatory (from 2002 to 2011), where has been involved in different tasks: detector calibration, event reconstruction, measurement of cosmic ray energy spectrum and mass composition estimation by means of multivariate analyses.
On May 2011, he joined the AMS (Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer) experiment, during the commissioning of the AMS instrument.
He has been in the team of the AMS Tracker experts and regularly scheduled for Tracker and Lead data taking and Tracker Expert on call shifts. He has been involved into Tracker alignment and calibration activities and in the key analyses of AMS data, in particularly into the measurements of positron fraction and into the measurement of proton and anti-proton flux and of the total electromagnetic flux.
With his experience on silicon tracker detector operations (alignment and calibration) and on data analysis, Domenico can give a contribution to the HPS tasks related to the silicon tracker detector and to HPS data analysis.
Domenico will devote 50% of his time to HPS and, of course, he will be available to help with running the experiment.
