Dear HPS,

Please see below Marco Battaglieri's message to the present signers of the Cosmic Vision White Paper, including a link to the preliminary draft.

This document will be an essential component in securing funds from DOE in the US for future hidden sector searches.

Everyone interested in this physics, not just the participants at the Cosmic Visions Workshop, is encouraged to send comments on the draft to Marco and to become a signatory.

Dear signers of US Cosmic Vision white paper,

At this link https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.dropbox.com_s_b6soaclaav47nz2_CompleteWhitepaper-5FMay17Draft.pdf-3Fdl-3D0&d=DwIGaQ&c=lz9TcOasaINaaC3U7FbMev2lsutwpI4--09aP8Lu18s&r=hGEVsUzUB5ml8iDt6EuOdg&m=bJaRix0VBu71CFUZ-6X86amTV3YGWPA1-VvLbiAZh1g&s=YJy0dWUHDdSNwpDR7iKb9joHd7n7bys5F0D2lEcFvuk&e=
you will find the first draft of the white paper that the conveners and SAC have assembled based on the meeting at College park a couple of months ago.

We hope the whitepaper captures the enthusiasm and lively activity characterizing the meeting: more than 150 researchers convened at the University of Maryland to discuss ideas, projects and experiments to decipher the fundamental nature of dark matter, its cosmological origin, its constituents and their interactions.
The document begins with a short executive summary that touches on why, how and when this ambitious program should be carried out.
The following sections summarize the science case and explain in detail the parameter space targets motivating the various fronts of this physics program: extending direct detection to cover new, unexplored territories; looking for ultra-light bosonic dark matter; using existing accelerator facilities to explore Dark Matter in high energy collisions; and a range of complementary directions in both experiment and theory. The following sections survey the many experiments, projects, and ideas presented at the workshop to tackle this challenge, organized by working group.

This paper is not only a proof of the lively theoretical and experimental activity from a growing community but is also drafting an entire physics program that, with a small investment, will clarify, proving or disregarding, the particle-like nature of the dark matter. We know this is a big challenge and for that, it really deserves your devoted and timely review.
It is in its first version, and your help is essential to make it better.
Please read it carefully (and check your institution affiliation) and send us your feedback/suggestions/corrections within the next week (not later than Wednesday May 24).
We are planning another iteration with all authors in a week to be able to publish on Arxiv by early June.
Thanks in advance for your kind cooperation.

The SAC and the Conveners of
U.S. Cosmic Visions: New Ideas in Dark Matter workshop
