Users, raw beam data, and fast new tape drives have all been pushing the /cache and /volatile disk servers to the limit, and we anxiously await the arrival of this year's lot to improve throughput.

Meanwhile, we wanted you to know why your ears might be burning...  so please make sure that you are using the disk servers efficiently in your jobs -- large buffers, large files (small files to /work), large pages, as applicable...
