We are pleased to announce a new JupyterHub service, available at

https://jupyterhub.jlab.org/

Features of the new system:

  * A selection of notebooks and kernels
  * Farm nodes are used for the computation and automatically allocated using slurm interactive features
  *   /cache, /volatile, /work, /home, and /group, and /apps are now visible file systems
  * In-browser terminal windows are supported
  * farm interactive sessions are spawned with a time limit for the allocation, currently up to 12 hours.
  * You can disconnect from one browser and reconnect from another using the same session
  * You need a slurm user to account association. If you have run a farm job, this is already done. If you have never run a farm job or the notebook does not start, submit a service now request to add you to the appropriate experimental hall or group account.

This replaces the old system which relied on a single server for computation. If you are a user of the old system, please migrate your files to the new system. The old system is slated to be shutdown on the next maintenance day.

The system is currently open to on-site networks. We will open it through the firewall to the internet in an upcoming feature release.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.
