It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Alic Spellman successfully defended his dissertation - our first search for SIMPs - today at UCSC.  While the outcome was never in doubt, Alic gave a masterful presentation after which the committee declined to pursue any closed door questioning.  Alic moves on to a position with U. Oregon on ATLAS, which will have him stationed at SLAC in the coming period to work on construction of the iTK silicon tracker upgrade.  Like many of you, I look forward to seeing Alic at SLAC, and hearing about his adventures as he forges a new path for himself.<br>
