[Hybrid baryons] Background levels for hybrid proposal

Annalisa,

One of the comments that come up during the Collaboration review of the KY proposal was that
we needed to do a better job to describe the expected backgrounds in our spectra at the increased
luminosity compared to CLAS operation. Certainly the first draft of the KY proposal kind of avoided
discussion of this topic in detail. Of course, the issue of the backgrounds and the understanding of
their impact on the analysis is an issue for the hybrid proposal as well.

Today at the hybrid meeting I described the issues and the expected backgrounds from particle
misidentification and accidentals in the KY channel. This discussion was based on Section 4.5 of 
the new version of the KY proposal (see attached). It is argued that if the backgrounds are under 
control for the KY analysis then they should be under control for the two-pion channel because the 
cross sections are ~100 times larger.

We need to include a discussion of backgrounds for the KY channel and the two-pion channel in 
the hybrid proposal. I think that it might be best if I prepared a draft of this section for the updated
hybrid proposal draft. If you have any comments on the arguments in the KY proposal, please let
me know.
