Good morning JLab Colleagues -

I hope everyone is doing well.  I can't believe we are halfway through the year already!  I apologize for the later edition, I was on holiday celebrating the college and high school graduations of both my sons.  It was a very special moment for me and my family for sure.

In June, we celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month, Caribbean-American Heritage Month and Juneteenth. Get Connected with you Colleagues Event - TOMORROW, June 16th 11:45 - 1:15pm

Working on-site is no longer the same as it was before March of 2020. Many of us have known each other for years, but have lost touch during the remote work period. Others are new to the lab. In fact, the lab has hired more than 250+ new employees since May 2020. Many of these colleagues are unfamiliar with staff outside of their specific working group. On Thursday, June 16 between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., join your fellow colleagues on the CEBAF Center patio! Bring your lunch or drop by during a break to reconnect with familiar colleagues and meet new ones. In the event of inclement weather, the meet-up will take place in CEBAF Center L102.  This event is sponsored by the DEI Council and JAG.

Overcoming Barriers to Communication (updated AP-COM course)

Overcoming Barriers to Communication is a course created to assist employees to understand various barriers to communication.  Through this course, attendees will realize the impact of medium and delivery on communication, recognize potential barriers to effective communication and how this translates into everyday work interactions.  Participants will understand cultural differences (language and cultural context), gender stereotypes and unconscious bias, and how all these factors hinder good communication.  Participants will learn strategies and gain tools on how to become more effective communicators.

Safe Zone/LGBTQ+ Educational Session
The Safe Zone/LGBTQ+ Educational Session is an opportunity for everyone, including our LGBTQ+ colleagues, allies and all who are interested in learning. During this session, we will review LGBTQ+ core terminology, discuss our personal relations to LGBTQ+ subjects and engage each other on how we can become better allies and advocates for our LGBTQ+ colleagues. This session is voluntary and advanced notice of participation is not required.
