Hi Andrew and George:
I can confirm that ANL is using a copper-cavity linac (approximately 25 kW at 40 MeV, if I recall correctly) to make 67Cu via the 68Zn(g,p)67Cu reaction.
Regarding the milking of 229Th (alpha decays to 225Ra, which beta decays to 225Ac), I do not know the issues with this (I'll dig around), but, if it was easy, end-users would not be griping about the shortage of 225Ac.

I was able to speak to Jehanne today, so I told her the progress you are making on Isotopes. Her comments:
Argonne is making a push to make Cu67 with their low energy (copper) linac. I think (but did not get confirmation) that this is using Zinc. She would be interested in our proposal as it is completely different.
I told her about our concerns about the cost of Radium to make Actinium 225. She said that they are currently making Ac225 by milking Thorium from the weapons program. She stated that she has access to all of the weapons stockpile so if there is an isotope that we are interested in, we should ask Dennis Phillips as he is the Isotope R&D Manager. He is also in charge of the Actinium225 program, so she strongly encouraged us to talk to him.
Jehanne seemed excited that we are making progress and is waiting eagerly for our ideas.
Hope this helps.
Andrew
