Dear All –

In regards to an agenda, starting at 10:00 am at JLAB, followed by 2:00 pm at VCU. This would allow 3 hours at JLAB for discussions and tours (~1 hour tour, ~2 hours for discussion), followed by lunch and travel to VCU (~1 hour), and an additional 1-2 hours at VCU, ending around 4 pm.  Would this be feasible – I am not sure about travel time between sites or needed time for discussion. Please provide me with your comments at your earliest convenience.

Both Marc Garland and Ethan Balkin are U.S. citizens. Please let me know what additional information you may need for their visit.

We would be happy to have Marc and Ethan visit in June.  I have contacted our collaborators at VCU (Jamal Zweit and Sundaresan Gobalakrishnan) and they are also happy to be included in the visit.

There are a couple of things that might affect the visit.

First, the ONP Isotope Program has a new FOA LAB 18-1896 for which the application deadline is June 15, 2018, by 5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time.  We would like to discuss with Marc and Ethan about our options and leave ourselves enough time to submit (or resubmit).  Perhaps we could arrange a telephone conference fairly soon and not wait for the visit?

I will be away on vacation May 23 through June 10.  Marc and Ethan are more than welcome to visit while I am away - I have several excellent collaborators who can guide the visit.

Please let me know when they would like to come.

In follow up to our meeting last week, the attached (very short) document explains the situation in LERF w.r.t. LCLSII and potential isotope work.  The bottom line is that the two activities are compatible and we still have the ability to run beam and proceed as the proposal outlined.

We would really welcome a visit from your isotope program management to show the facility and discuss further.   They could also see capabilities at VCU on the way back to DC.
